Evolution of a Walker

Two days after her first birthday Olive took her first solo step (before I grabbed the camera) in front of the dishwasher (and in front of Grandma Edwards which made her very happy). We hoped to catch another first step but she wouldn't have it, and in fact didn't step again that day I don't think. Anyway, this is still a cute captured moment post-triumph.

Then about a week later we played some Parent Ping Pong.

Then about a week after that she was off and running (almost literally). Here she is playing Atlas with a ball at our friends' house. Of course it was always right before I grabbed the camera or right after I turned it off that she really got going, but I think you can get the idea.

Monster Baby!

Halloween 2009

For Olive's Birthday we received TWO ladybug outfits - luckily one was perfect for the day and the other for night, so she got to wear them both and they were both ADORABLE. Here's the proof.

ONE YEAR

Summing up the first year of life with Olive would be basically impossible, so I'll just focus on the festivities celebrating the momentous milestone. On Sunday, the 18th day of the month of October in the year 2009, Olive Elora Edwards invited some of her nearest (though some did travel) and dearest to join her for pumpkins and presents. Here is a taste in pictures and video.

YAY! Grandma's back!

The cupcake in all its yummy glory.

Olive post cupcake.

The pumpkins - (from left) a picture of Olive and a pumpkin we got that was the same weight as her at birth (~8lb 2oz). An offspring of the original pumpkin. Another pumpkin her birthweight. A pumpkin her current weight (~24lb)!

And... "the video"...

Backblog

Well, hello there, haven't seen you for awhile! Um, so yeah, hopefully my mother-in-law will still love me when she gets back from the summer because she's now gone 6 weeks with no update. Sorry Mom E! Here are the top video moments that I have edited as of today.

And again a link to the pictures I've posted on Facebook so I don't double my efforts (I'm a busy woman, you know!?)

Sorry

My last post was over a month ago and contained material that was at least 2 weeks old, so it's been awhile I guess... What can I say? Life has been fairly insane around here and I just haven't had the time. In fact, I don't even really have the time right now but I thought I should at least say hi and let you know we're all alive and (mostly) well. Having already updated some pictures on Facebook I think I'll just link you to those for now in lieu of doubling my efforts - sound ok?

So here's our first backpacking trip on 4th of July weekend:

And some other selections of summer festivities:

I'll do my best to get back on track when I can! Love you all. =)

Where Did the Time Go?

Somewhere between the new 5am wake-ups and DJ's 14-hour work days it hit me that Olive's almost 8 months old - that's 2/3 of a year! Despite all of the craziness I cherish every day with this fun little girl whose every new discovery I get to witness and enjoy with her. Here's just a glimpse of what we've been up to (when we can get up to anything).

Chillin at a BBQ in the Mohrlangs' awesome backyard.

My sister Mel and her boy Henri came to visit for a few days - very fun! (Although a bit tricky with a 4 month and 7 month baby.)

A visit to one of my favorite spots - Macrina Bakery about 2 blocks from our condo. Good hot chocolate and I've never had a pastry there I didn't like.

Mellie reads one of my favorite books to the babes - Not a Box.

The cousins! (Good job catching up Henri - she doesn't look like she's going to squish you anymore.)

My friend Blake tries to feed Olive a lemon...

...but she still likes him anyway. ;)

More Grandma Tuesday!

Grandma wanted some group photos of the family kids so I got some free shots of Olive in a studio environment. She's just so freaking adorable!

Vegas Vacation and Tidbits

DJ took Olive to the park to play in the swing for the first time since she seemed to like it so much (see the video at the end of the last post). He made her a daisy chain while they were out - isn't that the sweetest thing?!

Olive rolls/scoots EVERYWHERE now and it's hard to contain her in a space. This is her rolling into her pile of toys and doing crunches trying to see what's under her.

It's sort of hard to tell, but this is me trying to show you the little hairs that get caught on her ears that I'm constantly putting back behind her ears... I just think it's cute.

VEGAS!!! Our first out of town trip without Olive - it was hard, but good. She did great, we did fine, the Grandparents loved having her.

Yes, they let you take alcohol everywhere in Vegas. This is the river pool at the MGM Grand where Meghan and Jonathan stayed. DJ enjoying a pina colada.

Meghan, Jonathan, and finally DJ's toes drying off.

This was one of our favorite food stops on the trip. It's called Diego's, and our waiter Leo was the BEST. If I ever go back to Vegas I'll definitely hit this place up again.

We just thought this was hilarious.

The ducks who got the last bits of our pastries from Paris.

And finally the fountains at Bellagio. DJ and I decided this would be a good retirement job for us - the computer programmer and the artistic designer. ;)

6 Months!!!!!! (and more)

On Olive's 6 month Bday we celebrated by taking advantage of our new membership to the Seattle Aquarium with Olive's friend Anna and her mom Laura (ok, so it's our friend Laura and her daughter Anna, but we hope the girls will end up friends).

Olive and Bible Study friend Kate.

Moving the Obergs (they just bought their first house)!

Church babies!

The Geelhoods watch Olive while we go on a date.

My parents came to give us a weekend "away" (we stayed in a hotel 12 blocks away), and here is just a bit of us walkin' the Sculpture Park before we handed her off.

Grandma feeds Olive peas at Red Robin after one of her Tuesdays with us (a weekly thing now - so awesome).

Olive on her perch at the Eidson home (it's just her size).

Visiting the crazy folks at the UW HUB - mine and DJ's old haunt.

What's awesome about this video is when I put her in the swing it was quite stationary.
